  • In the past 20 years, there have been over 11,000 oil leaks of 50 gallons or more in the US alone.  
  • A single oil leak in farmland can cause up to $40 million in property damage.
  • Since 2009, there has been a 60% increase in the annual number of pipeline accidents.
  • American taxpayers already pay about $350 million each year to clean up pipeline spills and fires. 
  • The pipeline KXL alone would put 1.2 billion metric tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.
  • KXL will create only 35 full-time jobs. Many of these jobs would not even be within the USA.
  • A leak from the proposed Trans Mountain Pipeline would destroy the Puget Sound salmon fishery.
